Alex Abrantes is a New York-based creative leader who hates to talk about himself in the third person.

Which is mildly inconvenient when writing a biography.

Over more than twenty years in advertising, Alex had the good fortune of working on a few dream projects for brands that trusted bold ideas and the teams behind them. Along the way, the work helped FCB become North America Network of the Year at Cannes for six consecutive years, while FCB New York was named #1 Agency in the World at The One Show and ADC in 2023 and 2024, Agency of the Year at the Clios for two straight years, WARC’s Most Effective Creative Agency of 2023, and Craft Agency of the Year at the 2024 Cannes Lions.

There were a few memorable side quests along the way.

Helping create the campaign that led to Spotify Advertising’s best year in history. Being part of the team that made John McEnroe play tennis against himself in the first real versus virtual match ever, proof that technology can achieve many things, including giving McEnroe someone truly worthy to argue with. Working on global campaigns for Mike’s Hard Lemonade, which included the surreal but delightful experience of meeting a very famous internet meme in real life.

He also had the chance to write Walmart’s first ever Super Bowl commercial, help Coordown champion inclusive education for children with Down syndrome, and lead a project that allowed a blind broadcaster to call a professional basketball game live on television, a moment that made the industry feel a little more meaningful than usual.

Alex was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and has been based in the United States since 2014.
He works comfortably in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

And he can count to five in Japanese.

Which, depending on the meeting, is sometimes more than enough.
